Teesside International Airport has started a nationwide search to recruit a Managing Director (“MD”) to help deliver the Airport’s 10 -Year Rescue Plan.

The new MD will be expected to provide strategic leadership and oversee the direction and development of Teesside International Airport, with a particular focus on safety and efficiency.  The emphasis is on finding an experienced candidate, with a successful track record in a commercial or operational role at a UK airport. The MD will help secure new airline partners, grow revenue, and attract additional investment as part of the plan.

The successful candidate will report to the board and will work closely with the team from Stobart Aviation. The new MD will play an active role in promoting Teesside International Airport’s position within the national and regional aviation sector and Tees Valley’s economic, transportation, planning and investment frameworks.

This appointment will be the first MD for the Airport since it was returned to public ownership with the role being filled on an interim basis by Glyn Jones, CEO, Stobart Aviation.

Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen said: “As part of our 10-Year Rescue Plan we have set some ambitious targets, including attracting a low-cost airline to our airport and getting passenger number back to one million by 2029. Over the past seven months we’ve got off to a good start with bringing more flights and commercial partners to the airport like Ramsdens.

“However, we can’t rest on our laurels, and we must accelerate our plans to turn the airport around and make it the success we all know it can be. The time is right to find a new, experienced MD to help take the Airport to the next stage in its development.”
