Teesside International Airport has secured an agreement with Eastern Airways as the new operator for flights to Aberdeen.

Initially the new daily flights will be the only direct service from the North-East to Aberdeen when they begin on Monday 20th May, operating daily weekdays and Sundays before increasing to twice daily from Monday 9th September.

The return of Eastern Airways to the Aberdeen service – which operated the route from 2001 to 2022 – will add to the airline’s well established seasonal summer Jersey service which resumes on Saturday 11th May.

The service joins Eastern Airways basing a 100-seat Embeaer 190 last month to operate the KLM Cityhopper Amsterdam service, resulting in Eastern operating up to 54 arrivals and departures weekly from Teesside Airport.

Teesside International Airport Manager Director Phil Forster said: “We are delighted to have reached this agreement with Eastern Airways and look forward to working with them on delivering a fantastic service for our passengers.

“We know this service is incredibly important for our passengers and the area’s economy so are pleased to have secured its future in such a short period of time – and to be only North-East airport now flying direct to Aberdeen.”

Eastern Airways Commercial Director Roger Hage added: “We have been operating from Teesside on multiple every year since 2001 so returning to the Aberdeen service from 20th May restores familiarity to many faces we have welcomed on-board for many years.

“We more than any operator know the value of connecting the UK’s energy capital Aberdeen to significant employment centres throughout the UK so adding Teesside to our growing route mix, while also operating services such as Amsterdam on behalf of KLM and the summer seasonal Jersey flights all help ensure the long-term future of connectivity from Teesside”

The Teesside-Aberdeen service will be operated up to twice daily with flights including a complimentary drink and snack alongside various baggage inclusive fare options. Multi-flight route pass fares offering discounts and free flight changes for regular travellers will also be available, with flights commencing Monday 20th May.
