Teesside Airport has hosted a delegation from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore keen to learn more about the airport’s net zero ambitions.

Kate Willard OBE – Chair of the Board of Directors of Teesside International Airport Limited and the Board of Directors of holding company Goosepool (2019) Limited – welcomed its Director, Mr Ho Yuen Sang to the airport’s recently opened Skybar.

Singapore is working on plans to make Singapore Changi Airport a Sustainable Air Hub and is examining the use of hydrogen to power its airside vehicles.

Representatives visited the airport to find out more about its hydrogen vehicle and refuelling trial as part of the region’s status as the UK’s Hydrogen Transport Hub. The £2.5million scheme has seen the airport test out commercial and support vehicles fitted with 100% zero-emission Toyota Mirai hydrogen-fuel cell vehicles, including a forklift.

The visit came after a team of Singapore’s senior civil servants toured the region in June, seeing first-hand the progress being made on the Teesworks site in Redcar, the UK’s largest industrial zone and part of the Teesside Freeport.
