Loganair’s first flight to Bristol jetted off from Teesside International Airport yesterday (24 May), its fourth service launched from the airport as coronavirus restrictions continue to relax.

The departure came as Loganair announced a new sale for all destinations from Teesside, including Bristol, with passengers travelling after 14 June able to pick up 10% off seats between today and 1 June.

That means people from across Teesside, North Yorkshire and the wider North-East can book from their local airport to Aberdeen, Belfast, Bristol, London Heathrow and Newquay for less, ahead of the UK’s biggest regional airline also flying to Jersey in the coming weeks.

Prices for the Bristol service start at £52.99 including all taxes. It will depart at 17:25 Monday to Friday until 1 June, when it will move to 14:25. On Sundays, the service will run at 16:25.

Passengers will soon find their departure from Teesside smoother than ever, with building work on the major terminal transformation now winding down and the new check-in and security areas plus new food options, duty free and lounges due to be officially unveiled shortly. From 1 June, the airport’s unpopular Passenger Facility Fee will also be abolished.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “Bristol is a fantastic city and this service is yet another string to our bow, providing a valuable south-west connection for businesses across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool and making it easy for companies based there to see what we have to offer.

“It’s also a great opportunity for local people looking for a great getaway right here in the UK and will undoubtedly help to boost leisure visitors to the region as coronavirus restrictions continue to lift and hospitality opens up even more.

“Loganair’s continued commitment to our airport, even during these difficult times, is a testament to how far we’ve come and all of the work that’s continuing to be put into Teesside International to make it a success. I can’t wait for our passengers to see the transformation as they take advantage of these routes, as well as our international summer breaks.”

Kay Ryan, Chief Commercial Office from Loganair said: “I’m delighted that we are able to add Bristol to our growing portfolio of routes from Teesside International. We know it’ll prove popular with customers travelling for leisure and business purposes alike. Our thanks go to the team at the airport who have been so supportive as we continue to build on our partnership with them.”

Dave Lees, CEO at Bristol Airport added: “The introduction of a new six day per week service to Teesside Airport is excellent news for the South West and the North East. These kind of connections are an important part of the levelling up agenda, connecting two regions with a long history of manufacturing and innovation that have huge potential in the coming years.”
