Families can make Christmas 2023 more magical as a second day break to Lapland from Teesside Airport has now gone on sale.

Tickets are now available for Transun’s popular Winter Wonderland excursion on Saturday 23 December 2023.

The exciting adventure includes a meeting with Santa plus a small gift for children, a husky experience, snowmobile adventure and sleigh ride, return flights plus meals and a loan of warm clothing. Prices are £599 per adult, £549 per child and £40 per infant.

Newmarket Holidays also operates a different Lapland Santa Experience day trip from Teesside, with its 2022 excursion fully booked and tickets for next year’s tour – taking place on 12 December – on sale now from £649 per person.

Transun is also offering Northern Lights three-night breaks, departing the region to Enontekio in Northern Finland – deep within the Arctic circle. Highlights include a snowmobile safari, reindeer camp excursion, husky sledding and a forest trek to try to catch a glimpse of the dazzling Northern Lights. Tickets for the 2024 departure will be on sale soon.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “Teesside Airport had a fantastic summer but people from across the region can also take advantage of these winter trips, which continue to prove incredibly popular.

“This year’s trip to Lapland may be fully booked, but if passengers act fast, they can secure a ticket for 2023 to give the family a Christmas experience that they’ll never forget. Or, if one day in Finland isn’t enough, places will soon be available for the 2024 Northern Lights trip.

“Transun and Newmarket Holidays have operated from the airport for years, and their support and successful routes are helping to give people from across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool exactly what they want from their local airport.”

Transun’s Head of Trade Relations, Dino Toouli, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer our Winter Wonderland trip from Teesside next year, giving people the chance to take a magical day trip to meet Santa, while taking advantage of the convenience and ease of using their local airport.

“This route also complements our longer Northern Lights excursion, where people might spot the aurora and can spend even more time enjoying Northern Finland’s stunning locale. Tickets for 2024 will be coming soon, so people should watch this space to avoid disappointment.”

Newmarket Holidays’ Head of Trade Sales, Richard Forde, said: “The demand for 2022 dates has been particularly strong with the majority of flights sold out by the summer. The local airport flights are key to the success of our Lapland Day Trips as customers are keen to make the most of their day and get a smoother airport experience. This year even more regional flights have been added to the programme.

“Lapland is an immersive destination, and our programme offers an intimate experience for families and friends to enjoy the very best of Swedish Lapland – one which they’ll be able to remember for years to come. We would recommend customers booking early to secure their place for this highly popular destination.”
