Teesside International Airport is a regional airport seeking to develop global connectivity, along with domestic and European business routes and leisure opportunities. As well as serving passengers, the Airport is also focused on developing broader aviation related activities.
The role of firefighter is essential to our airport’s operation, ensuring compliance and business continuity around the clock. We are currently looking for 4 energetic, self-motivated and proactive individuals to join our Fire & Rescue Team.
This role is 42 hours per week contracted to 9 hours per shift on a rota covering the operational hours of 05:30 to 23:25.
The salary for this role is £23,925 to £31,425 dependent on training and experience.
Specific duties will include:
Providing an immediate response to emergencies at the airport;
Take all necessary action to ensure the safety of those involved in any incident and minimising any further risk people may face
Medical response and First Aid;
Undertaking station duties to maintain operational readiness of equipment and personnel;
Clean, inspect and test vehicles and equipment;
Wildlife control and habitat management;
Fire risk assessments and audits;
Winter operations (snow clearing, de-icing);
Teaching and instructing including third party training such as fire awareness;
Other duties to support the airport operation including baggage handling, grass cutting, and FOD patrols.
The successful candidate will have:
Previous Firefighter experience
A Basic Civil Aviation Firefighter qualification would be an advantage however it is not essential
A good level of fitness and stamina – candidates will be required to successfully pass a medical in line with national fire standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to multi-task, prioritise and remain calm in an emergency situation
Flexible attitude to working hours, work activities and an ability to work shifts as the role will involve working an operational shift pattern providing cover up to 24 hours, averaging 42 hours per week including weekends
A full UK driving licence will be required and having an LGV licence would be an advantage
Successful candidates will be required to complete a Counter Terrorist Check and a five year background check.
