Teesside International Airport is looking for an experienced and dedicated Head Chef. The ideal candidate for this position will be a natural leader who always works to the highest standards and consistently maintains a knowledge of current food trends. The Head Chef will be responsible for the environmental health due diligence, assigning work in the kitchens, preparing meals for our diners, interviewing and training staff, kitchen inventory management and reviewing, developing, and updating menus. Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with suppliers and resolve issues with vendors promptly
  • Follow the budget established by the food & beverage manager
  • Ensure safety and environmental health practices in the kitchen are implemented and followed
  • Manage kitchen staff and delegate tasks related to meal prep, cooking and delivering food to diners in a timely fashion
  • Maintain the schedule for kitchen staff
  • Monitor food and staff costs
  • Keep up with industry trends and update menus accordingly

Experience

  • NVQ level 3
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Chef in a busy high volume kitchen
  • 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work and lead in a fast-paced environment
  • Dedicated to food safety, quality and control
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling and environmental standards
