Year-round access to the sun-soaked Costa Del Sol is coming to Teesside Airport.
Ryanair will now host even more trips to Malaga with flights all year-round twice a week from Teesside.
In March, the airline launched Teesside’s first trip since 2009 to the popular destination, boasting a packed flight.
These were due to last until October – but now even more Spanish sun will be available on flights jetting off on Wednesdays and Saturdays after the summer season ends.
The new flights are set to go on sale on imminently.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “It was a joy to head out to Malaga on a packed flight earlier this year – and it’s fantastic Ryanair has recognised the demand so far and made their Teesside service to the Costa Del Sol a year-round offering.
“It was great to deliver on my pledge to bring back Malaga – people were asking for it and we delivered.
“We’re working round the clock to bring more flights to our departure boards – we know there’s a huge demand to get more flights to more destinations, and we’re determined to make Teesside the thriving airport we know it can be.
“This is another big boost, and I’d urge people to book!”
The Malaga expansion comes as Teesside summer season gets motoring.
On top of the existing twice-weekly Malaga trips, three trips a week to Alicante and flights to Faro are now on departure boards.
TUI trips to Majorca begin in May, taking the total tally to four flights per week to offer great choice on flexibility for your holidays – with Dalaman, on TUI, and sun-drenched Corfu, on Ryanair, also set to return this summer.
Teesside Airport’s Managing Director Phil Forster said: “It’s great to see Ryanair has made this further commitment to us as part of their ongoing partnership with us.
“We’re always working to secure more flights for destinations holidaymakers want to see – we’re out trying to get our name out there, and show people across Teesside, across the North East and across the North of England that we are a great option for a flight abroad.
“Despite challenges in the aviation industry, all our staff ensure we keep punching above our weight. We’re not standing still, and I can’t wait to see even more people coming through our doors for 12 months of the year.”
