Teesside Airport’s busiest winter schedule in 17 years is primed to begin after another busy summer.

With year-round Ryanair flights to Malaga now on departure boards, the airport will see the winter season busier than it has been since 2008.

Popular daily links to Amsterdam on KLM will keep running as the nights draw in – keeping Teesside connected to the world.

And year-round winter sun is within reach through Teesside’s immensely popular Alicante link.

Charters to snowy Scandinavia are also continuing in winter 2025/26 with bookings still open to enjoy day trips to Lapland.

Meanwhile, the latest passenger statistics show Teesside is still on the right track when it comes to attracting more people through its doors.

Figures up to the end of July show Teesside is on track to beat its 2024 passenger levels by 6% this year.

Flights to Amsterdam and Ryanair trips to Alicante and Malaga have been the top performers – and twice weekly flights to Majorca on TUI have been big hits.

For the second year in a row, Teesside also received a “Very Good” rating from the Civil Aviation Authority when it came to its accessibility.

Airport Managing Director Phil Forster said: “It’s great to see we’re heading in the right direction. With Malaga and Alicante back on year-round schedules and KLM holding firm in Amsterdam with its worldwide links, we’re giving people choice and convenience – and a top-quality service from our brilliant team. Passenger growth of 6% is also a testament to our team’s drive and determination.

“We’ve plenty of work ahead – but it’s great to see lots of development on the airport site and passenger numbers on a steady increase.”

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen added: “This winter schedule is unlocking Teesside Airport’s potential for our region. It was a real pleasure to deliver on my pledge to bring Malaga’s route to Teesside – it’s been a big hit, which is why it’s running year-round.

“We want more sun, more routes, more reasons for people to fly from Teesside. More than that, we’re building momentum – and the figures year-on-year show our airport is building a solid base.

“This airport was on the brink of closure in not-too-distant past – we saved it. It’s great to see just how far we’ve come, and the road ahead for the people’s airport is bright.”
