Sunseekers can jet off to Turkey from Teesside next summer with the launch of a new route to Antalya.

Turkish-based airline Mavi Gok Airlines (MGA) Airlines has announced a weekly flight to the sunshine Mediterranean hotspot as it becomes the newest carrier to fly from Teesside.

Starting 1 July, 2026, through to 28 October, flights will run every Wednesday, giving travellers the perfect midweek getaway option.

Services will arrive into Teesside at 2:30pm and depart for Antalya at 3:30pm, meaning passengers can enjoy a smooth, easy journey from their local airport.

Antalya Airport opens the door to some of Turkey’s most stunning beach resorts and must-see attractions.

From the family-friendly hotels of Lara Beach and the luxury five-star escapes of Belek, to the lively nightlife of Kemer and the historic old town of Kaleiçi, the region offers something for everyone.

Holidaymakers can explore ancient ruins such as Aspendos and Perge, dive into turquoise coast waters on boat tours, or relax on miles of golden sands – making Antalya one of the Med’s most popular holiday hotspots.

Teesside will be the only UK airport outside London where MGA Airlines will operate, making this a unique offering locally for those seeking great value and convenience.

The addition of Antalya comes during a standout year for Teesside Airport. It builds on the introduction of hugely popular year-round flights to Malaga, launched earlier this year, and the recent announcement that Alicante flights will expand to four services a week.

The airport has recorded its highest passenger numbers in almost 20 years, with its busiest winter schedule in 17 years just around the corner after another packed summer.

Phil Forster, Managing Director of Teesside International Airport, said: “This is brilliant news for local people who want more choice, more sunshine and more convenience when they fly.

“Antalya is a fantastic destination for families, couples and adventure-seekers, and we’re thrilled MGA Airlines has chosen Teesside as their only UK base outside of London.

“With year-round Malaga now in place, Alicante expanding, and passenger numbers at their highest in more than ten years, we’re continuing to make flying from Teesside easier and better than ever.”

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “This announcement is another big win for local holidaymakers. Getting more routes and more airlines into Teesside means people can travel to amazing places without the stress of trekking to airports further away.

“MGA choosing Teesside for their first UK flights outside London shows how far our airport has come.

“With our busiest winter in 17 years about to kick off, it’s clear Teesside Airport is thriving – and today’s news gives people even more reasons to fly local.”

Flights for summer 2026 are now on sale via MGA Airlines’ website and local travel agents.
