Another trade boost has come to Teesside Airport with the launch of a new global trade centre.
A new ISS Airview hub has officially launched at Teesside – positioning the airport as a gateway for investment and trade between Tees Valley and key global markets.
The news comes following a string of developments at the Teesside Airport Business Park – including Willis Aviation’s new twin-bay hangar, the international expansion of Airbourne Colours’ aircraft painting facility, and the continued growth of Draken Europe, which has secured its Teesside base with the help a long-term future supporting the Ministry of Defence.
International trade expert Atif Malik has been appointed to head up ISS Freeports – the global Freeport division of ISS Holdings – with Teesside primed to play a key role in a UK-first network linking Freeport trade corridors across the North East, and, ultimately, to hubs in Riyadh and Bangalore.
Atif visited the Middle East and Asia over the Bank Holiday weekend to showcase Teesside’s growing credentials as a world-class trade and investment destination – and the international airport.
Covering key industrial and logistics sites from Teesworks and Wilton to Teesside International Airport, the Teesside Freeport offers customs benefits, tax relief, and innovation support – making it one of Europe’s most attractive business environments.
Atif Malik said: “Teesside is fast becoming a model for how regions can lead the way in global trade and clean growth. With the ISS Airview hub now taking on space at the airport, we’re not just connecting this region to global markets – we’re helping shape the future of UK trade.
“It’s a privilege to take this work forward, and I’m excited to tell that story around the globe.”
Phil Forster, Managing Director of Teesside International Airport, added: “We’re proud to welcome ISS Freeports and Atif Malik to our site. The launch of their second Airview hub here strengthens our offer as a genuine global trade gateway. It shows the momentum we’ve built – from hangar expansions and new MRO jobs to international freight and investment links – and there’s so much more to come.
“With our ideal positioning at the centre of Britain, we’re ideally primed to grow and this agreement will play a key role in unlocking new opportunities for both the airport and businesses across our region and beyond.”
The airport-based Airview hub is the second the firm has set up in the North-east after taking on a site at Newcastle Airport in January. It aims to form the UK’s first connected Freeport corridor, designed to support ambitious businesses with international scaling, investment, and trade infrastructure.
