Teesside International Airport Firefighter assessments are conducted in alignment with the National Firefighter Test and the National Selection Test. Its purpose is to assess your suitability for the role of Firefighter. As part of the selection process, the National Firefighter Physical Tests will be administered, which are designed to evaluate your fitness, strength, manual dexterity, and confidence in simulated scenarios. These tests are intended to reflect operational practices and may be updated periodically. Before participating in many of these tests, candidates will be asked to complete a Medical Screening Form to ensure they are physically capable of undertaking them.
This test evaluates your confidence, agility, and potential reaction to claustrophobia while working in a confined environment. Wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and a Breathing Apparatus (BA) facemask, candidates will need to navigate a crawl way within a set time. Half of the crawl way will be clearly visible, while the other half will be obscured. Specific tasks must be completed during this test.
This test measures your aerobic fitness, muscular strength, and stamina. Candidates will be required to, drag a hose reel 25 meters from an appliance and then jog back 25 meters. To pass you will need to evidence you can do this 6 times within 8 minutes.
This test assesses your fitness and endurance. You will be required to run back and forth between two bases within the time dictated by a beep. The time between each beep will decrease, forcing you to run faster. To pass, you must reach level 9.1.
