Job Description

The primary function of the Multi-Skilled Operative is to assist in the day to day operational tasks of the airport, and assist the Ramp Supervisor, Airport Duty Manager and Passenger Operations with the safe and efficient delivery of airport services.

Working closely with other areas of the business and third parties, ensuring the airport’s mission and its vision are embedded in every aspect of the passenger journey and experience.

JOB SUMMARY

Principal Accountabilities 

2.1 To undertake ramp handling including baggage on and off load, to ensure the safe and compliant marshalling of aircraft and implementation of ramp procedures.

2.2 To ensure the safe handling of passengers with reduced mobility, whilst maintaining high levels of customer service.

2.3 To assist in protecting the Critical Parts of the Airport in accordance with Airport Security program.

2.4 To carry out allocated cleaning activities in accordance the internal service standards

2.5 To undertake, as required any labouring, ancillary duties as instructed by the Airport Duty Manager.

2.6 To provide an efficient ‘Passengers with Restricted Mobility’ (PRM) – service including information and assistance to PRM customers.

2.7 Ensure a smooth process for all Wheelchair passengers from the car park to terminal check in desks, and from arrivals back to the car park (e.g.: wheelchair access, visibility impaired).

2.8 Ensure regular checks are carried out throughout the day to ensure sufficient wheelchairs are placed at designated areas.

2.9 Ensure all faulty wheelchairs are reported to ensure prompt repair.

2.10 To carry out allocated cleaning activities to high standards and in accordance with schedule for areas to be cleaned.

2.11 Maintain cleaning records/documentation.

2.12 Report faulty or damaged equipment to ADM.

2.13 To ensure all cleaning equipment is maintained, operational and tested at intervals as prescribed in relevant departmental instructions and that equipment failures or performance deterioration are highlighted and acted upon.

2.14 To undertake as required any general housekeeping duties including the terminal and the car park as instructed by the ADM.

2.15 To undertake any labouring duties as required.

2.16 To provide non-technical support to the engineering team as required.

2.17 To escort any contractors on site in accordance with the SMS policy and security procedures.

2.18 The safe and efficient loading and unloading of baggage (including any freight) from and onto aircraft.

2.19 Ensuring compliance with the Triple ‘A’ (bingo card) reconciliation system as directed by DfT and in accordance with the AOI.

2.20 Ensure that all vehicles and equipment on the apron are operated in a safe manner on the apron and other areas.

2.21 Carry out visual checks of vehicles before use, reporting any damage or serviceability problems to the Airport Duty Manager/ Airside Safety Officer.

2.22 Provide aircraft with all appropriate ground services including GPU, steps, and if required an a/c pushback facility and any facility required by the airline which may be undertaken by TIA.

2.23 Be familiar with relevant task cards of the Airport Contingency Plan including the Emergency Trailer operation. This job description is an outline of the key tasks and responsibilities of the post and the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties in line with the seniority of the role. The post may change over time to reflect the developing needs of the business, as well as the personal development needs of the post holder. This job description will be subject to regular review and adjustment.
